What is our approach ?

We offer a range of animated cards – from simple to complex, with or without music. We also provide still cards for those who prefer non-animated images. A range of “blank for your own message” cards is available. To give you more choice, some cards appear in different categories. We aim to produce at least one new card each month - but we usually exceed this number most months!

Where are we ?

Skyblue's studio is located in the beautiful setting of the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire, Scotland. We are surrounded by the wonderful landscapes of the area – with views across the Tay estuary to Fife and beyond. The ever-changing landscape, cloudscape and seascape provide a rich source of inspiration for our art work.

Who are we ?

We are a group of professional artists living and working in Scotland. We often exhibit together and Skyblue Cards is our latest joint venture. Our backgrounds are in fine art, design and animation. Our team consists of:-

John Scott Aird has a Degree in Fine Art and is an accomplished and skilful draughtsman. He is responsible for the excellent bird drawings you will find in our Art Cards section. He has a good eye for colour and tone and brings this to his work on our ecards. He is also keen on many of the technical aspects of animation and this is reflected in the intricacies of some of his ecard designs. Examples of his work include - Flyaway, Dog Surprise and Marilyn.

Suzanne Scott comes more from the design side and has a Degree in Textile Design. This influences her ecard designs which often have the feel of being overlaid and textured in an eye catching and interesting way. Her delicate and colourful animations bring another dimension to our card collection. Examples of her work include Snow Bikes, Wedding Plane and the Mouse and Lion series.

Pópulo Antolín has a degree in Digital Media, and is an experienced designer who has worked on a wide range of audio-visual projects including work for galleries, festivals, films, installations and commercial productions. Adept at all aspects of animation, Pópulo brings a mixture of technical expertise and creative design skill to her work on our cards. She is also mainly responsible for the Skyblue website design where she has provided an unusual and creative look and feel for the site. Originally from Spain and now residing in Scotland, Pópulo is an honorary Scottish artist ! Examples of her cards include - Spring Garden, Medieval Knight and the Penguin series.

Valerie Scott has a Degree and a Masters in Fine Art. With interests in conceptual art and abstract painting, her work is wide ranging, endlessly creative and eye catching. Her animations range from the deceptively simple to more complex designs. Examples of her work include - Bicycle Boy, New Year Clock Countdown and our Moving Home range.

Behind The Scenes supporting the artists, we have Denny Collie who is our general manager and Iain Craven who looks after the IT side of the site. As well as looking after Skyblue Cards, Denny also does some lecturing in information and business management. Iain runs his own IT company offering web development and general programming services. All the music and sounds effects are provided by the team. Original music and adaptations are arranged by Val, Populo, Suzie and a multi-instrumental friend David.
